My Poor Neglected Stamps

I have so many stamps that have been forgotten, anyone else??? I quickly found my favorites and use them all the time. I was looking through the Splitcoast Gallery recently for some inspiration and saw a lot of cute cards. Low and behold most were made with sets I already have and haven't inked in forever. These cards were made with one of them. The set I used for these cards is a hostess set that I got at the beginning of my demoship (is that even a word??) I loved it right away and sadly only one stamp of the set has even seen ink. I decided to try using my "forgotten" stamps a bit more. These are the two I came up with:The second one is my favorite mostly because it is in my comfort zone. I can do neutral/earthy tone cards no problem. The bright ones always through me. I do like the first one it just isn't as much my taste.
All the cardstock used is SU and the paper is from My Minds Eye. The stamped images are colored with my SU markers because the copics I own didn't go real well but I was just on Gina K's blog and I here my new copics are coming. YEAH!!!!!!!! Both ribbon's are from a $.99 spool from Hobby Lobby. I really love this ribbon though. The polka dots are so cute, I bought one in every color they had. Plus when it's this cheap I find I actually use it, instead of hoarding it!! LOL!
Thanks for stopping by, until tomorrow. Ciao

Big on Spring

My mom needed a card for a bridal shower over the weekend and of course I had to use the bride to be stamp from Stampin Up's Big On Spring set featured in the mini catalog. I loved all these stamps right away and this one had yet to be inked. Normally coloring images is my all time fave but I was having a coloring brain fart when I tried to make this card. I stamped this image 8 different times trying to get it right. I wasted an entire sheet of Whisper White card stock. I tried my SU markers, my copics and even my watercolor pencils. NOTHING WAS WORKING. I thought about going a whole new direction with a different stamp but I didn't really know what else to do. Finally I decided to just stamp it on the same decorative paper as the background and cut out each individual letter. I HATE CUTTING!!!! This was a definate last resort, but once I got it done.....I loved it. This card really did turn out quite well cosidering all the screw up and the almost 45 minutes it took to make. The card stock is Blush Blossom and Chocolate Chip. The decorative paper is from My Mind's Eye and the ribbon is..... don't know ;) The first couple of times I stamped it I stamped the whole image. For the finished project I ended up taping off the flowers from the "I" bouquet. They were throwing me off. I would love to make more of these but I'm not sure I'm up for more cutting. We'll see!!!

School Days Scrapbook Layouts

Scrapbooking is were my paper crafting began. I have scrapbooked for almost 8 years now and love it. Since I have discovered cardmaking and stamping my scrapbooking has taken a backseat. I still want to try stamping on my layouts, I just haven't had a chance yet. Me and a couple of friends are going to Sweetwater house (a local scrapbook company) over the weekend though for a scrapbooking retreat so maybe I will finally get to it. I can't wait. Three days of nothing but crafts!! NO KIDS...NO HUBBIES!!! Sounds like heaven to me!!! Don't get me wrong I love my family but I am in DESPERATE need of a vacation as I'm sure ALL you mom's do!

I found these photos on my computer today of some layouts I made and completely forgot bout. I thought I would share them with you all.

I had intended on making pages like this for a full album but discovered SU right about the time I was working on these. They are listed in my ETSY STORE if you are interested. I really need to make the rest of the grades too because they would make an adorable album!!

Thanks for stopping by!!!

My Stampin Up Workshop

I wanted to show you all the four projects I demonstrated yesterday at my workshop. I think they are super cute, but maybe I'm a bit biased.
This ladybug was a cased idea from Splitcoast, but I loved it. I used the Pick a Petal set with Real Red Ink. The paper is from a Hostess only pad. The sentiment is from The Simply Said set. Isn't that bug so CUTE!!!!
This is the Make and Take card we are going to do. I just love this set. The card size is 4x4. I am really digging square cards lately. The colors used are Bordering Blue, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White. I colored the flowers with my watercolor pencils and it's hard to tell but I sponged around them with my Certainly Celery ink.
Are you tired of seeing this Sour Cream Containers yet??? I'm not tired of making them. Isn't that strawberry so cute. It's by far one of my fave's. I don't think I will ever part with it!! The paper is Summer Picnic from the Mini Catalog. I love to colors of these papers and there isn't an ugly one in the bunch!
This card was made with the Be Happy stamp set. I have never been able to do much with this set. I really wanted it and then nothing I have attempted was any good, BUT I do think this turned out good. The laugh, play, share stamp was inked with my Versamark pad and the Smile stamp was too, but then I used my Stampin Pastels to give it color. The orange flower is a Die Cut Bloom from the Mini Catalog too. I inked the edges in Real Red ink and I love this color combo. It adds such depth, also the texture of it is great!!! The paper is SU's Fall Flowers, also very cute!!

Everyone had a great time at the workshop. Thanks for stopping by!

Verve Visual * Take Two *

I wanted to play with Julee's Verve Visual Guest Design Challenge one more time this month. I didn't find this one to be quite as challenging. Maybe I over thought the last one a bit to much. You can see my first submission {HERE}.

This card was inspired by a shirt my daughter got for her birthday. She looked so cute in it!!! As she was getting her jammies on it hit me. That would make the cutest card. She thought I was nuts when I tucked her in and headed to my craft room with her shirt in hand, but she was happy with the results the next morning. She wants to keep the card :)
I used the Verve's Thankful Blossoms set for the white flower in the background and the Butterflies on the main image. Oh yeah and the sentiment too! This is one of my favorite sentiments. Just very sweet! The teal background flowers are from SU's Simply Said stamp set. The card itself is Bashful Blue from SU and the accent colors are Taken with Teal and Chocolate Chip. The butterflies were stamped four times, twice on the main panel and two times on scrap paper, cut out and then attached so they could fly!!!! I added Stickles glitter to the wings and it made the chocolate chip ink run, it is actually a really cool effect all by accident. I first inked the butterflies with Taken with Teal and then used my Chocolate Chip marker to THUMP the stamp. I did the same on the word Smile in the sentiment. I used my Marvy Giga Square Scallop punch and added silver brads for some dazzle!!!! I can't wait to try out a few more shirts for inspiration. Kids clothes are great for this!!! Hope you like.

Mojo Gone WILD!!!

This post may cause sensory overload due to the overwhelming repetion of this Mojo sketch!!Isn't this just the best sketch!!! I don't know why I fell so in love with it, but I did. And as you can tell from the post title, I got a little carried away. I spent about 3 hours in my craft room Wednesday night and this sketch was about all I used. My craft table is OVERFLOWING with scraps, it's really embarassing. Anyway, I have been trying to use up what is on my table without digging into a fresh piece of paper. This sketch is great for that. Plus, when your on a roll with something why stop. I was whipping these babies out super fast.

So which one is your favorite?? Mine is the baby elephant (and my hubby's too)! Happy Friday!! Have a great weekend

A Doodle, Doodle, Doodle!!!

Any mom's watch Blues Clues with their kids??? Then you get my title!!!! Of course, I sang it as I typed it!!!!!I just wanted to say thank you to all of you for your kind words and yes, I'm doing a little better. I'm trying to back off the meds to get my head back on straight!! I'm walking almost normal today so I might finally get out and get to a few things that have needed done.

Today's card is another simple card but easily a fave. The cardstock is SU's Tempting Turquoise and the patterned paper is, of course, My Mind's Eye. I just really love their stuff. I even bought another slab the last time I was at Hobby Lobby. I don't know if anyone else has this problem but I love it so much I hate to use it. Buying another stack made me feel like I have enough to spare. It will take me forever to use and that's not even mentioning all the other paper I have in my storage system. I don't even dig through it anymore but I know I need to. Sorry, a little of track there. The stamp set is Doodle This. I have wanted this stamp since I signed on but kept putting it aside for another order. Finally I have it and I love it. These flowers stacked are so cool. I used a yellow rhinestone brad in the center of a jumbo eyelet and it really makes this flower pop. I had seen this a few times, mostly on Beate's blog, and kept forgetting to try it!!! LOVE IT!!!! All the images were stamped in Close to Cocoa. This card is super fast but it does take a little time to cut the flowers. One trick I figured out with them though is you just have to get the top flower exact. There's no need to cut in real close on the bottom two because most of it gets covered :) Til' tomorrow, happy Thursday!!!

I {heart} BEES!!!!!

This is going to be a short post since I'm still in pretty bad pain from my back!! The muscle relaxers and pain pills are helping but three kids are demanding whether or not you are in pain so I've over done it AGAIN today!!!!
I just can't get enough of these little bees from Stampendous. I have almost a dozen different bees but these two are my favorite. I always color them these colors though (again with that very literal thing). This card is pretty self explanatory. The Stampin Up card stock colors are More Mustard and Pumpkin Pie. The decorative paper is just one I have had for way to long. I used my Marvy Giga Scallop Square punch and cut the bees to fit inside. The ribbon is from a $.99 spool from Hobby Lobby. The celebrate sentiment is from the cake stamp in the Just Celebrate set in the Mini Catalog. If you don't have this set, YOU NEED IT!! I love mine. It is a great set to turn too when you need a quick card and there is something for most any occasion!!!
Hope you like the card and now back to the couch for me!

I used to pick and winner!!

This is a great set! I don't have any favorites..I'm happy to have found your blog, I love your work and it's no wonder you are getting more subscribers now that we've found you ! LOL

Congrats Patty!!!! Email me your address and I will get your stamps out to you!!!!

Oh My Aching Back!

Sorry I didn't get to a post yesterday. I had to go to the doctor for my back. I don't know what I did but I could hardly walk and carrying kids was a BIG no-no. I should get the results back today on the possible cause. I will be back later today to draw for the blog candy!!!!!! Maybe I'll even get to a fun post but no promises :)

Double Your Chances

Do you REALLY love the Merci set? Are you kicking yourself for not getting it during Sale-A-Bration when it was available?? Well of course you can have a chance at winning it by signing up for my blog candy HERE!!! You can also double your chances by heading over to Addicted to Stamping to sign up for Julie's blog candy. She is my Stampin Up upline and has an awesome blog, check it out!!!

Just Celebrate

I love this cake from the Just Celebrate stamp set from Stampin Up. I think it is really cute. The only problem I have is I can't seem to color the cake anything but Chocolate Chip, and the icing is always Cameo Coral or some shade of pink. I have seen some really cute cards were the cake is blue or purple and the icing is green, but I just can't make myself do it. I'm to literal, cake's just aren't blue!!! Well when you only color a certain stamp the same ALL THE TIME it's hard to think of a cute color scheme. However, I think I found one this time.

This paper really was the inspiration behind the whole card. I was flipping through my paper from My Minds Eye when I saw this decorative paper. The colored dots really resemble the Stampin Up colors I used, Cameo Coral, Bashful Blue, Chocolate Chip, Creamy Caramel. I let the circles take over by using half circles on the sides and the scalloped circle in the middle. The ribbon is SU's Sky Blue!

Thanks for taking a look and don't forget about my BLOG CANDY POST! Let a comment on that post and I will be drawing a winner for the Merci Stamp Set on April 23rd!!!!!

Pretty In Pink

I needed a Mother's Day card for a Grandma for one of my customers orders and new just what to use. Of course, the Blooming With Love set from SU but I'm taking about the little sentiment from Gina K. I got her Free With Three Set on my last order and it is great. The flowers are beautiful but it came with such great mix and match sentiments. The font is just so elegant!!! I really like this card. The decorative paper is Daisy D's and the cardstock is Pixie Pink and Old Olive. The strip of Old Olive at the bottom was stamped with Versamark ink and the flower bunch used in the wheelbarrow. You should be able to click on the photo to enlarge it if you want to see a closer view. I added the photo corners and brads just for a little something extra. It seems to fill the empty space on images when you just don't know what else to do!!!

Sorry this was a quick post. We are having a birthday party today for my daughter. We figured since everyone was getting together already for the shower we may as well make a weekend out of it!!

Baby Shower Time

Finally, today is the day. I have been doing so much in prepartion for this shower and finally it's here. I'm the only kid in my family to have children so this baby is much anticipated. It's been so nice seeing someone else pregnant :) These are the last of the gifts that I made for the shower games.

The first is just a candle I bought from Wal-Mart and spruced up a bit. I made a belly band for it using paper from My Minds Eye and black cardstock. The 12x12 sheet of decorative paper just barely fit. I didn't have any black 12x12 paper and really wanted the black trim, I don't know why other than that's just how I pictured it. Anyway, since it didn't quite fit I decided to make it look intentional by placing my flower there, sort of a frame for it. The flowers are from the Doodle This stamp set from SU. I love this set, the flourishes are great and I love the way these flowers layer. I added a jumbo eyelet and jewled brad to "pretty" it up.
These next gifts were what I came up with for the jars I have had sitting on my kitchen counter for weeks. I've just been filling them with candy and giving them to my SU hostessess but I wanted something different for the shower. I searched "jar recipes" online and found THIS cool site with TONS of recipes to give as gifts in a jar. I used the Cappucino Mix Recipe to fill them both. I did'nt quite fill them so I had to one and a half the recipe. I used SU rub-ons for the jars and paper from My Minds Eye to cover the top of the lid. I wrapped ribbon around the jar lid and attached the directions with linen thread.

Blog Candy Time *AGAIN*

Alright, here it is. Blog candy as promised for my ten new subscribers!!! This is my third blog candy and when I first posted I had almost no subscribers, except my cousin Aubrey (hello) but isn't family almost obligated to pay attention. Anyway, I never thought anyone else would actually card what I put on here and well here you are. I'm so excited about all of you taking the time to check out my blog.

I also wanted to say a huge thanks to Shelia, the first blog candy winner. I went to the mail today in search of my copic marker shipment and found a card from. It was a lovely thank you for the stamps and enclosed were a few goodies I can't wait to try. I'm not even sure what they are called, little half glass looking things, maybe baubles. Anyway, I've seen them on so many cards and haven't had a chance to get my own, so thank you Shelia, I'm glad you loved the stamps!!!!!!

Okay, here it is!!! This stamp set was another Sale-A-Bration set that is no longer available. This was my favorite one for a long time and I haven't used it in FOREVER!!! I guess I'm gonna have to ink it again soon.

To enter for a chance to win just leave a comment on this post telling me about your favorite stamp set or paper craft product. I know this changes all the time but just tell me what you love right now. I can't seem to get enough of my new Tart and Tangy stamp set. I almost let this one slip past. I have to admit it never even turned my head when I flipped through the mini catalog but once I started to see all the amazing cards with it, well obviously I changed my mind. Those little bits of fruit are so cute, yes cute!!!! I do still have my Card Kit by Mail available using this set if you are interested. You can check it out HERE!! I will also be listing another card kit featuring this same stamp set soon. This stamp set is only available through the end of May!!

Happy Friday to all and I hope you have an awesome weekend. My sister's baby shower is tomorrow and I will have the last of the shower gifts posted too!!!
***EDITED TO ADD - It occured to me I never told you when I would draw for the blog candy. I will pick a winner with on April 23rd!!!!***

I used to choose today's winner!

Thanks for stopping by!!!

Another Mother's Day Card

Does this little watering can look familiar??? It's the same layout I used on the gift tin I posted yesterday. I love all the layers and the colors. When I first started stamping I had no idea what to do with my little stamps. I didn't know how to finish such a big card with tiny stamps. Thanks to so many others who share their talents on their blogs I have learned a few tricks. The stamped image is probably only 2 inches total but it fills the space nicely. This was a very simple card. The paper is from Daisy D's and the cardstock is all SU, Old Olive, Bashful Blue and Barely Banana. I'm not sure who the ribbon is from. The watering can and flower were colored with my watercolor pencils and blender pens. I love the look you can create by just pulling the color around with the blenders. Pretty simple post today but I'm hoping to be back tomorrow with the rest of the shower gifts. Happy Thursday!!!

Toot Toot!!!!

That is the sound of me tooting my own horn. I LOVE the way these gifts turned out!! I volunteered to make the game gifts for my sister's baby shower. I really didn't know what I wanted to make but knew I had to do something. I went to Target and got a few tins from there dollar bin and a few little gift items. This is what the tin looked like bare. I loved the shape of it. The problem was paper doesn't "wrap" around it because of it's shape. But it was really easy to cut four panels and attach them. This is what I came up with:

The paper alone looked really cute but I couldn't resist adding a little ribbon. It turned out perfect because it gave me a place to hang this cute little tag to say thanks for coming.

The panels on the front and back were cut at 2 1/2 and then I folded the edges over to make a crease and cut along the line. I used Snail Adhesive from Stampin Up to attach the paper. The side panels were 2 5/8 and I used the same fold over method to cut the sides to fit. The ribbon is from Hobby Lobby and I used Sticky Strip to attach it. (It has a much stronger hold.) The tags are from the So Many Scallops set. I stamped them in Certainly Celery and Pixie Pink. I used my scallop punch to cut them out and tied them on with some linen thread.

The next tin is going to be filled with gardening goodies, I just don't have them yet. I didn't do as much to this tin because I couldn't figure out a way to get paper attached right. The circle shape was to hard to make something work. I made a cute little tag with the watering can from my Blooming With Love set. I punched circles and scallops and layered everything. I pierced the edges of the scallops and used linen thread to tie it on. I used the ribbon on the handle to hold the tag in place and also wrapped it around the bucket.
I still have to finish up a few more that I will show you too!!

Blooming with Love

I just got this new Bloomin With Love set from Stampin Up for Mother's day. I was a Mother's Day card making machine yesterday! My hubby is home this week which means craft room time for me!!!!! I had a lot of cards to make and a workshop to plan so it was a good thing I had most of the day. I'm still not quite finished or at least that's the story I'm telling my husband ;) It's nice to take a break from the crazy day's and sink into craft heaven.

I used Bashful Blue and Ruby Red cardstock from Stampin Up. The decorative paper is from Daisy D. Hobby Lobby was having a paper sale and I couldn't resist!!!! I used my SU punches for the sentiment and photo corner and VOILA. I hope you like this set because I have a few more to show you in the next few days. Have a happy Tuesday!!!!

Strawberry Shortcake

That's what this card reminds me of. Wouldn't this be the cutest card with Strawberry Shortcake paper. I love it. I'm waiting now for some litle girl to have a birthday so I can make it again. If my daughter wasn't such a tomboy I would make her have a Strawberry Shortcake party. She want's a Star War's party!! LOL! I have to admit though I totally cased it. I have been visiting Jami Sibley's blog a lot lately and when I got me new Tart and Tangy set I knew this was the card I wanted to make. I colored the strawberry with Pixie Pink and Green Galore Markers. I followed the measurements on Jami's site pretty closely. I don't have all the same circle punches though so mine looks a little different. Plus, she had the pretty ribbon and little bits of bling that I didn't add. This card didn't photograph very well. The colors look really washed out. It's much cuter in person. I messed with it in Photoshop for awhile and eventually this is what I got. SORRY!! I have been wanting to make some square cards lately, they are really fun to work with. I needed to try a few different layouts, I have been stuck in 5.5x4.25 world for awhile now. I want to try some 3x3 cards to. There so cute when there that size. Anyway, hope you like and DON'T FORGET ABOUT MY BLOG CANDY!!!

Wedding Cake

WOW, I am amazed at the amount of new subscribers I have had these last two days!! (Hello, new readers!) The way things are going I am going to have to post another blog candy after this one ends. If you haven't signed up for the candy yet you can check out the post HERE!

The card I have for you today is kind of a cheat card. I needed to make a few wedding cards and don't really have any wedding stamps. I had seen a card kind of similar to this and knew I wanted to try it. I really like the way it turned out, and talk about simple. I cut some rectangles, rounded the top corners and inked the edges with my Ranger Distress Ink. I think the color is antique linen. The paper is Stampin Up's Pretty in Pink. I attached the flowers with brads and used some craft wire to make the cake stand. All I did was tape it to the card and adhere the bottom cake layer over the top. I attached the sticker to a piece of gray cardstock just so I could mount it with dimensionals to give it a little depth. I took a close up picture of the wire just so you could see how it looked. This card took about 10 minutes to complete. I'm hoping to get to a few variations of it because wedding season is fast approaching.
Thanks again to everyone for stopping by!!

I stayed up last night working on all the cards I need to make and was all ready to post one when I got another subscriber to my blog. Yes, that means I have ten new subscribed readers and it is blog candy time. Just as promised I am offering So Many Scallops which you could get only during Sale-A-Bration with a purchase of $50. You can see some of my recent projects with the set HERE and HERE! All you have to do for your chance to win is leave a comment on this post. I tried to think of something creative to have you leave a comment on but it's early and I'm waiting for the coffee to finish, in other words, my brain isn't working yet. So any old comment will do. I will draw the winner on April 17th, another birthday in my family. My sister's step son turns 8!!!! We are having a birthday party for him and my daughter Macy who turns 6 on the 28th together this year. They are both looking forward to it!!! Thanks again to everyone who stops by!!! I truly appreciate it!

Rocky Mountain High

So did any of you go nuts yesterday singing L.A. Woman. I did!! I downloaded it and listened to it about a dozen times yesterday. And for those of you who know it, it's a LONG song. Miller loved it though so it was on repeat for the morning. I thought I would give you a new song to sing this morning. Recognize the title of this post. Yes, John Denver.

And the Colorado rocky mountain high
I've seen it rainin' fire in the sky
I know he'd be a poorer man if he never saw an eagle fly
Rocky mountain high

You love me right now, right?!?!?!

I swear a song comes to my mind with most everything I do. This one came to mind while I made this new digital scrapbook layout. We went to Estes Park and the Rocky Mountain National Forest over Macy's spring break. It was a fun day. I really like the way these layouts turned out. I used two photos of the mountains for my background. My husband thought they were digi papers until I showed him the photos I took. Pretty cool, huh?I didn't have a card to share with you today so this is what you get, LOL. I have A LOT to get done though. In the last two days I have gotten requests for, get this, 31 cards!!!!!! I told you I'm gonna be busy. I love it though, it's a good excuse to skip cleaning and get into my craft room. Plus, I hurt my back yesterday caring laundry up the stairs so what else can I do!!!! Happy Thursday!

Mr. Mojo Risin'

Got to keep on risin', risin' risin'. This is the song that has been in my head ALL NIGHT. It comes to mind everytime I work on Julee's sketches. Do you know what song it is??? L.A. Woman by The Doors. I did have to check the lyrics this morning before I posted this though, because I hated to be singing it wrong and people go "What, that's not the words", but I was right. Mr. Mojo is Risin'. I even had to download the song this morning, I'm hoping to drive it from my brain by finally listening to it.

So last night Jim Morrison and I headed to my craft room to create my Mojo card. After working into the wee hours on this and some other projects I finally headed to bed. The problem was Jim wanted to go to bed with me. (He didn't even buy me dinner :) I could not get it out of my head and I couldn't remember how the rest of the song went. I repeated one lyric, over, and over, and over. After a few cups of coffee though I think my day will be just fine. At least now I am singing the rest of the song too.

Okay, so enough babble, here's my card:
I have been ignoring my Stampendous bee's for awhile now and decided to pull them out. I made one card using YoYo Yellow and wow, is that a scary color! I just wasn't happy with it. This was my second, attempt and I really love the way it turned out. I used More Mustard instead and I like this color combo better. I used my Stampendous flower stamp for the backgroud and just love these flowers. I used my Copics and my SU markers to color in all the images. The strip across the bottom is Real Red and the ribbon is just a cheapo from Hobby Lobby. This is a bolder color choice for me as lately things were getting a little dull. It makes me happy just looking at it this morning. Hope you like it. Tonight I'm hoping to get to ANOTHER Verve challenge. Check it out HERE! THERE'S A PRIZE!!!!!!!!

Baby Shower Favors

These are the favors I am making for my sister's baby shower. She is having a boy!!! ( As if you couldn't tell!) For those of you who have been with me awhile you have seen these before. I made my daughters valentine's for school like this too. You can see them HERE. I am working on quite a few projects for the shower and am hoping to get to them all this week. I bought a 12x12 baby boy paper kit at Target for $1. There were 8 sheets of paper so I got 32 favors from this pack. I bought two packs of ribbon for a buck too but am actually going to need more like four, so I guess it's back to the store for me. I filled them with candy we had from Easter, you would not believe how much we have. The tags are from the So Many Scallops set that we offered during Sale-A-Bration. I stamped 32 in Brillant Blue and used my scallop punch to cut them out. I just love these, they are so easy and super cute. You can find the tutorial to make these on SplitCoast HERE. I hope to be back tomorrow with a few more projects!

***REMEMBER-For every ten subscribers I will post another Sale-A-Bration stamp set for Blog Candy (until I run out). So Many Scallops is the next set I have to post. Only 4 more subscribers and I will list my blog candy!!!***

Super Simple, Super Fast!!!

This is a really simple, really easy card. I made it for a birthday party we had this weekend. It took about 10 minutes. I used the So Many Scallops set that was offered during Sale-A-Bration. I stamped the happy birthday scallop in Real Red, Certainly Celery and Pixie Pink. I used my scallop punch to cut them out and then inked the edges for some depth. I cut a 3/4 inch strip of cardstock in the same colors, inked the edges (again) and attached the ribbon. Not sure where I got the ribbon, sorry :( I spend so much time obsessing over my cards and THIS is my husbands favorite so far. I do really like this layout though and love that these stamps work with the Stampin Up Scallop Punch. I love coloring in stamps but HATE cutting them out. It is that perfectionist thing again, it takes me way to long to cut them out. Anyway, I have another So Many Scallops stamp set waiting for the next blog candy. For every ten new subscribers I will list another Sale-A-Bration stamp set until they are all gone. So if you like my work, why not sign up for my newsletter. You'll get all the updates to my blog as they are posted. (HINT: Only five more subscribers needed!!)

Thanks for looking!!

Got My Mojo Workin'!

This was actually the first Verve card I made on Thursday. I wanted to get my creative juices flowing before I started work on the card I posted yesterday for the Guest Designer spot over at Verve. This card was for Julee's Mojo Monday sketch. Doesn't she have the best sketches!!! I love to play with them. I don't seem to get to the sketches as much as I use to but I always try to play with my Mojo. (That didn't come out right :) Anyway, I used the butterfly from the Thankful Blossoms set and finally made him fly. I stamped him twice and cut out the second one. I colored it with my watercolor pencils and added some Stickles glitter. I love the way his wings float of the paper. I used the leaves and my versamark pad to add some detail to the Bravo Burgandy cardstock from Stampin Up. I also used Brocade Blue, Kraft and Vanilla. Chocolate Chip was my ink of choice for stampin and distressing the edges. Once I was done with the butterfly the circle still looked to big so I added dots. Just random dots to take up some space but I really like the results. I used my Chocolate Chip marker for that. Thanks for looking, happy saturday!!!!

Verve Visual Guest Designer

Well not yet?!?!?! But hopefully I have the card that will change all that. Verve Visual issued a new guest designer challenge on April 1st and I haven't been able to sleep since. Seriously, I'm not kidding. I either lay awake with ideas running through my head or I am dreaming about making the card. I actually woke up the other night and thought "How do you dream cardmaking", but this brain of mine wouldn't turn off until this card was made. Maybe now I can finally get some peaceful sleep.

This has to be my favorite card to date.....ever.......... yes EVER!! I have always been in love with my Verve Serenity set and almost turned to it when I sat down, but I withheld. After all, that would be playing it safe and I really wanted to challenge myself to make something different. I bought the Thankful Blossoms set almost a month ago because I loved the flowers. Then when I tried to use them I couldn't get them to come out quite the way I wanted. I normally LOVE to color but these flowers were not working for me. I couldn't get the color choices right and I finally gave up and fell in love with the butterfly and of course the great sentiments. I decided for this card to try one more time and really am happy that I did. I gave up on coloring them and just stamped them on decorative paper and finally got the look I wanted.

I usually follow sketches pretty closely and had every intention of keeping this card horizontal. While I was drawing the sketch I even thought I'm sure someone will have to flip this sketch but I don't think it will work. Not this one, NO WAY!!! Well TADAHHHHHHH!!

I didn't intend on putting stems on these flowers but I just couldn't leave my Serenity set alone. I love, I had to use it. To get the stems to fit I had to flip the sketch. And much to my surprise, it worked. I like the look of this card. I got in a major rut of a one size fits all card that this was such a breath of fresh air. I was worried about ALL the space but it really was no problem. This card is really huge. I used Laurie's dimensions of 3 7/8 x 9 1/4. VERY BIG!!!

So, lets break it down :) All cardstock was SU, Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, and Rose Red. All my color inspiration came from the main sheet of decorative paper from My Minds Eye. I used eyelets for the center of the flowers and for the corners of the main image. I wasn't real sure which sentiment I wanted to use. There are so many good ones in both sets that I have. I decided to use two. One sentiments says "Thanks for you Kindness" and the other "You made me Smile today". Mine read's "Thanks for your Smile". I combined them by omitting the words I didn't want and love the way it looks. I liked the "tag" a little askew rather than straight like the sketch. It seemed to fit the space better. Below are a few closeup shots so you can really see the detail. I is hard to see the piercing on the main photo.
