I Have My Hands Full!!!

Look what we got yesterday!!! His name is Marley and he is a Silky Terrier/Dachshund and he is so cute!!! He's a super dog already. He slept through the whole night with no "accidents" so far. He even fetches and is super cuddly. He is also demanding of my time..lol!! Hopefully I'll be back tomorrow with something fun.
Also I have two exciting announcements for the new year!!!!! I'll be sharing them soon :)

Downloaded Stamps

I found a new challenge site (surprise, surprise) {HERE}. Then I discovered that they also have their own stamp line called Pollycraft Designs. The images are just adorable. I feel in love immediately. There were several images I wanted to get but since they are in the UK I was worried about the shipping. While browsing I realized that they also have downloadable stamps. I've never tried a downloaded stamp but was a bit interested in the idea. I checked the price and WOW!!! I got three adorable images (Doodle Dreams Penelope) for $1.50. They were super easy to work with and I tried two different coloring methods to see how the printer ink would hold up.
The first card was printed on SU's Whisper White cardstock and colored with my copics. I was super impressed. The ink didn't bleed and the image printed without smuding!!!
The second card was printed on Watercolor Paper and I used my SU markers and aquapainter to color it. Again nothing smudged.
I took some close up shots so you could see the quality of the images and the coloring. I'm off to check out some more of Pollycrafts images!!

Last Week's SFYTT

I'm behind again on all my favorite challenges. I don't feel to bad though, I just checked out Jen's site and even she missed her own challenge, lol, so I guess it's just been crazy for us all. I'm ready for the new year and a chance to get back into a more normal routine again.
This card is for last weeks SFYTT. This card was one that came to me in my sleep and I actually remembered it when I woke up. I really should keep a notebook by my bed to catch all those ideas that usually slip away by morning. I love the three Verve butterflies in the bottom corner. The biggest one is attached with a staple (my new favorite way to add this butterfly to my cards). They were all stamped on decorative paper and cut out. I stamped the flowers from Floral Whimsy in So Saffron on the background polka dot paper. I was going to add the dark blue paper for the top panel but it covered to much of the flowers so I made the layer vellum. I like the way it looks, especially with the stitching!!
I used one of my new favorite embellishments for this card...embroidery floss!! I love it. I use it to sew on buttons, to attach them to my ribbon and for this card I wrapped it around like ribbon and tied a bow. I love that it is flatter than ribbon, you still get a cute look but don't have to pay the extra shipping because it doesn't bump as much. I bought a huge package for $14.99 at Michaels the other day. I spent one whole day re-wrapping them around these plastic thingies so they would fit in this plastic case. Look how pretty it is!!I love this rainbow of colors and couldn't wait to try out the fun colors on this card. The yellow was really a bright color choice for me but I like it with the baja breeze color.

Bee Mine

I'm BACK!!!! I hope you all had a fabulous christmas. Ours was great. The kids got lots to do (mostly craft stuff for my girls) and it's been keeping them busy. I got some new goodies to get inky and could hardly wait to get back to my craft room. I'm so in love with my new Kim Hughes stamps. The images are so adorable and they are really deeply etched so they stamp beautifully! For this card I used the new The Birds and The Bees set and Kazan's Sketch 16 from last week.I'm so in love with these bees!! I stamped them three times for this card. Once on More Mustard, Kraft and Vellum. I left a little "tab" on the bottom of the vellum wing when I cut it out so I could attach it under the yellow body so the wings would lift for some dimension. I'll probably use this set for my girls valentines this year. They are just to adorable!!
Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: The Birds and The Bees (CHF)
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Basic Black
Paper: More Mustard, Chocolate Chip, Kraft, Vellum, More Mustard DP

Recipe Challenge 29

This is my favorite Sketches {by tamara} recipe challenge card to date! There it is, I said it!! I love it, BUT I can't take credit for it. My inspiration came from this card {HERE}. I did change a few things but mostly it a cased card. Usually I don't like the way my cards turn out when I case them. The original is always way better. While the original is still better I'm proud of this one.
So you want to play along?? Here is this weeks recipe:
*really old patterned paper (we all have this, right?)
*naked chipboard
*twill, twine, or raffia

This will probably be my last post until after Christmas, blogland seems to be closing down for the holidays. Merry Christmas to you all!!!
Thanks for stopping by!

Recipe:

Stamps: Grateful Elegance (verve)

Paper: Pink Pirouette, Kraft, Floral Print (my minds eye), Stripes (unknown, hey it's old paper ;)

Ink: Basic Black, Chocolate Chip

Accesories: Chipboard, Hemp Twine, Cream Flowers, Brads, Pink Ribbon, Machine Stitching

An Anti-Christmas Christmas Card

I just couldn't do it. I couldn't make one more "traditional" christmas card. I reached for the red and green but I just wasn't feeling it. Kind of sad but that's almost how the season can feel anymore. Everything starts so early that by the time it gets here you're ready to move on.
Anyway, I did use a christmas stamp for this card, I just made a pretty bold color choice for me (Pacific Point and YoYo Yellow). This card is for my god-daughter and I wanted it to be fun and funky!!I stamped the poinsettia's from Verve's Poinsettia Christmas on this Daisy D's dp. I cut them out and sewed them onto the card with black embroidery floss. I started out following Julee's Mojo sketch and it went a little astray. Not to bad :)
The sentiment is from Ornamental Christmas (I used this set a lot). The sentiments are great for the ornaments or just to add on a card and there are lots to choose from!!
Want to see what's inside??
I followed Gina K's directions for making this card. Anyone notice what's wrong with this picture. Two things!!
1. I don't speak spanish
2. Even though I don't speak spanish I do know Feliz Cumpleanos means Happy Birthday.
This is what happens when the kids throw a fit in Kohls and I trust my hubby to get the gift card :)
Oh well, at least it spends the same.
Thanks for stopping by!!
ETA: There is a really great blog candy {HERE} make sure you stop by and check it out!!

Look No Designer Paper!!

Designer paper is usually what inspires most of my cards. At least it's usually the starting point. The inspiration for this card came from the card on the cover of the SU sampler that came with one of my orders. I love my spiral punch and hardly ever use it. I need to get my punches out of the drawer I keep them in because I forget about a lot of them. I love the way so many of you have them hanging I just need to take the time to do it.
This was a super simple, super quick card. I used Happy Everything and the flower from Verve's Feeling Groovy. I really like the soft color combo. And the piercing adds a little interest to the empty space.
Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: Happy Everything (su), Feeling Groovy (verve)
Paper: So Saffron, Close to Cocoa, Kraft, Sage Shadow

Teacher Christmas Gifts

I was so proud of myself for finishing my christmas cards early, my shopping was done, half of them are already wrapped and under the tree. I felt so ahead of the game, then this last week of school hit and I remembered I hadn't thought of anything for my girls teachers...eeek!!! I spent Tuesday making cards and super quick gifts.
Here are the cards:

I'm really happy with the way they all turned out. The tree card was super easy, I free hand cut the trees and then ran it through my sewing machine. I love the chalkboard paper on the cards, it just helps personalize them!! (Thanks AnneMarie for that enabling!!!)
The gifts were really easy this year. I bought these coffee mugs awhile back because I knew they would come in handy some day!! I added a SU rub-on from last years Sale-A-Bration, some gingham ribbon and lots of my favorite candy (hopefully it's theirs too!!!)

I hope all your holiday gifts are getting wrapped up too!!! Only 8 more days, no pressure!!!

Bugs and Kisses

I love this stamp set!! I've been eyeing it for a long time but kept talking myself out of it when I ordered. Then I read Jan Tink's retirement prediction list and she had Bugs and Kisses on the list. I immediately panicked. What if it retires, I should buy it. Well I waited for the retirement list to come out and nope it's sticking around but I decided not to take any chances. I ordered it!!!
I used the adorable ladybugs from this set to make today's card for the Created By Courtney Challenge. It's a sketch challenge and a great one. I really feel in love with this card. The colors, the layout, all of it, I LOVE it!! If you get a chance you should play along!!

Recipe Challenge 28

This weeks Recipe Challenge at Sketches {by tamara} took me on a scavenger hunt through my house. WHY??

*use the colors red and white
*have a heart anywhere on your card or layout
*use a household item to stamp???

Hmmm??? What to stamp with?? I was completely puzzled for awhile and looking at my card you might not be able to tell what I used. I stamped the Kraft layer with a paper towel to give it some texture. It looks really cool in person but is hard to see in the photo.
I used the wheelbarrow from Blooming with Love and the hearts and sentiment from Loads of Love. I think it turned out perfect for a holiday card. The hearts were stamped on red gingham paper to match my ribbon (yes, it's an obsession, I can't help it) The base of the wheelbarrow was stamped on metallic silver paper and is popped up on foam tape. I had to add a black button for the wheel and it's stitched on with red floss. This was a last minute holiday card but ended up being one of my faves.
I would love to see what household item you decide to use. Make sure you link your card to Sketches {by tamara}.
Thanks for stopping by!!!

Stamps: Blooming with Love (su), Loads of Love (su)
Paper: Kraft, Basic Black, White Lined Paper (cm), Metallic Silver, Vanilla Scallops
Ink: Basic Black, Chocolate Chip, Close to Cocoa

Tall Oaks

I made this card for Taylors Cupcake Challenge #43 a few weeks ago and forgot to post it. I inked up my acorn from Tall Oaks. I randomly stamped it in Creamy Caramel on the Kraft background and them stamped over them with my french script background in the same color. The one in the circle was colored with my copics and the edges were inked with Chocolate Chip. I love the torn edge of the Tangerine Tango strip with the sentiment.
Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: Tall Oaks (verve), French Script Background (stampendous)
Paper: Creamy Caramel, Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Tangerine Tango
Ink: Basic Black, Creamy Caramel, Chocolate Chip, Copics
Accesories: Brads, Circle Punches

More Dots!!

I'm back today with another double challenge card.
1. Our Creative Corner (sketch challenge)
2. Color Throwdown (Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive)
I'm seriously loving this sketch. The addition of the three ribbons at the top is so cute!! I was a little worried about this color combo at first but I'm happy with the way it came together. I usually bombard a color challenge card with all the colors but this one just came together. It's the addition of the green I was concerned about and I actually cheated a bit on the color (it's Always Artichoke, not Old Olive).
Thanks for stopping by!
Recipe:
Stamps: Flower Stem (purple onion), Birthday Surprise (verve)
Paper: Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla, Polka Dots (my minds eye)
Ink: Riding Hood Red, Always Artichoke, Chocolate Chip, Antique Linen Distress Ink
Accesories: Chocolate Chip Grosgrain Ribbon, Cirlce Punches, Script Embossing Folder

Taken with Dots

I decided it was time to get back into all my favorite challenges. I've been so busy I've been missing most of them. I had most of yesterday in my craft room and whipped out quite a few creations. Today's is for three challenges.
1. Created By Courtney Challenge (make something using dots)
2. SCS Color Challenge- CC196(Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red, Taken With Teal), I'm in love with this color combo.
3. Jen's SFYTT
I'm going to be on a birthday card spree here for awhile. I just got an order for 30 of them so that's probably all you will see for a bit.
Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: Happy Birthday (imaginesce)
Paper: Taken with Teal, Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze, Polka Dots (my mind's eye)

Gingerbread Gift Set

Michele at Purple Onion is having a gift wrap challenge and since my new stamps just arrived I had to play. I am absolutely in love with this gift set!! It's going to be really hard to give this one away..lol! The thing I love most about Purple Onion is they have great vintage stamps and that was the direction I went with this set. I've also been checking out Tim Holtz's 12 tags of christmas (have you seen these, they are AMAZING) and really wanted to try out some of his distressing techniques. All three items were stamped with the same stamps.
I started with More Mustard cardstock and stamped the Art Nouveau Corner in Chocolate Chip Ink and then Rouge Et Noir Music Clip in Vintage Photo Distress Ink. I crumpled up the paper and then smoothed it out. I rubbed and pounced it with Antique Linen Distress Ink. The edges were inked with the Vintage Photo ink too. The Celebrate The Season Noteblock was stamped in Basic Black.
The ribbon of course is gingham. Isn't it oh so cute!!! I machine stitched along the edges of the card and the bag to keep the paper down (since I crumpled it it didn't want to stay in place. The topper of the candle was attached with red sticky tape.
I was just going to make the candle and then things snowballed a little :) The candle is gingerbread too which is so perfect!!

Christmas Cards

Guess what I did today?? Yep I'm done with my chistmas cards and boy is it nice to have that checked off my list. I got them all addressed, signed, stamped and in the mail. Phew, it was a lot of work but hopefully everyone loves them.
Here is one I made with my Verve stamp set Poinsettia Christmas. I made this one really simple but I like it. The cardstock base is metallic shimmer and I embossed the flower in silver too. I love the simple shimmer of this card. Thanks for stopping by!

Recipe Challenge 27

Okay, go easy on me. This was my first card after my week break from stamping and it's a little...um...plain. This weeks recipe challenge at Sketches {by tamara} was:
*Paint
*Circles
*Chipboard
Everything is there I just don't care for it. I wanted to use my new stamp set but it was kind of a flop. The good news is after this card I got my mojo back and whipped out the next two weeks challenge cards (which I love, but can't show you yet). Guess you'll just have to come back ;) Thanks for stopping by!

Stamps: Enjoy Every Moment (su)
Paper: Bashful Blue, Very Vanilla, unknown dp

Simple Flowers

I've really enjoyed stamping a bit simpler these days. Maybe it's the crazy hectic holidays or maybe I'm just getting lazy, or maybe I really need more SU cardstock that my mom is getting me for christmas. Who knows but I've been enjoying making minimal layered cards. This one was inspired by {THIS} card Jennifer Buck made. I used all my faves for this card.
My Favorite Stampendous stamp
My Favorite Ribbon
My Favorite Decorative Paper

Quick and Easy!!! Thanks for stopping by!

Just a Picture

Isn't this pretty. I took it this morning of the tree in our backyard. We got about 3 inches of snow yesterday and I looks so pretty. I wish I could stay inside forever and just look at it. To bad I have errands to run and kiddo's to pick up at school!!
