Polka Dots and Gingham...

...are two of my favorite words. Well, that and coffee & chocolate or beer & pizza or sand & sun or maybe peace & quiet...lol! But when it comes to papercrafting it's definately polka dots and gingham :)
I dreamt this card last weekend while I was sleeping peacefully with no kids home. I woke up eager to put it on paper but still wasn't feeling the best and never made it to my craft room. I finally had the chance yesterday to sneak in a card and it turned out pretty much like I had in mind. I originally had the card on a black background but it ended up being too much black. I decided on kraft but I think I would have liked Very Vanilla instead.

I'm so in love with these new Unity stamps!! I still have lots more to get inky so I need to get all my laundry finished today so I can have some serious craft time this weekend!
Thanks for stopping by!

She posted 12 pics of her adorable baby girl for inspiration. I chose the 7 month outfit which was one of my faves from the year. Last time I made {THIS CARD}!
I just love the colors of the little outfit and knew I wanted to use my new Unity stamps for the flowers. I'm getting braver about using white space. It really is stunning, I just have such a hard time leaving it alone...hehe! If you haven't played along before now is the perfect time to start. Recipe Challenge 50

Summer is officially in full swing with the kiddos home and they are already bored...imagine that. Luckily they have a lot of activities coming up in June to keep them busy!! Between me going back to school and the kids being home I decided it would be best to relieve myself of some of my stamping obligations :(
I won't be on the design team for the Created By Courtney Challenges anymore but you can bet I'll still be playing along when I get a chance. Also, this week is the end of the term for the current Sketches {by tamara} Recipe Challenge team. Tamara was going to quit doing the recipe challenges all together because of the time thing too, but luckily one of the other DT members is going to take it over. Today's card is my last card on the DT and the recipe is chosen by ME :)

*Notebook Paper
*Dry Embossing I want to say a great big thank you to both Tamara and Courtney for allowing me to design for their challenges. Both of you girls rock and I'll still be playing along when the kids allow it :)

Mojo Monday 88

As promised, here I am. Two days in a row! I'm hoping this week gets me back on track with blogging. This is also the first full week my kids are out of school so I'm hoping that doesn't put a big kink in my stamping time...we'll see!
Today's Mojo Monday sketch is an extra special one. Julee has teamed up with Jen Tapler for the Stampin Out Alzheimer's event that starts today. You can sign up {HERE}! 100% of the proceeds go to the Alzheimer's Association. All the details about how the mojo sketch fits into this amazing event check out the {MOJO BLOG}.
For this week's sketch, I FINALLY had time to get my new Unity Stamps inky. I have drooled over their stamps for awhile and broke down and ordered May's kit of the month and WOW! I can't believe I waited so long to get my hands on these babies. I got a huge sheet of die cut rubber and all the designs are great. I love that all the stamps are fairly big too, they will be perfect to scrapbook with. Now I just need to find the time to do it. Thanks for stopping by and make sure you swing by the {MOJO BLOG}!

Verve Challenge

I'm back...barely. Whatever this ick is that I have, it's TERRIBLE. I've been miserable this whole week so please excuse me for not getting to any posts. I'm almost starting to feel human again and my voice is slowly coming back. My parents took my kids for me this weekend so I could rest. I had a little bit of time to make a few cards but I didn't get near as much done as I was hoping to.
Julee had a new Verve release, did anyone go to the party? I popped my head in for a few minutes but the chatting was going so fast, my medicated brain just couldn't keep up. She issued a sketch challenge and I was bummed because I didn't have time to get to it before the release party. Luckliy she extended the deadline until Tuesday, so I got to it over the weekend. She's going to be choosing her favorite and they will get to be a guest designer for the month of June. I was lucky enough to be one for last November's release and it was a blast. I'm glad I had a chance to get my entry in. I'm totally digging my new My Mind's Eye paper pack and I cut these flowers out from one of the dp's in it. Don't these colors just rock. I let the flowers guide me in the color choices and I have to say I totally love them.
Thanks for still sticking with me after my LONG break. I'll be back tomorrow with my Mojo card. It's a special sketch so you won't want to miss it ;)

Mojo Monday 87

Where have I been.....SICK! I can't get my kids to share anything with each other but they never seem to have much of a problem sharing their germs with me. I went to the doctor and I didn't have strep or the flu but I felt HORRIBLE. Fever, chills, sore throat, body aches, ugh!!!
I'm finally feeling a bit better, just really wiped out. It's so hard to be a sick mom. I'm so used to going 90 mph all the time and after being sick I feel so behind on everything.
Luckily I had this {Mojo Monday} card made a head of time. Head on over to the {MOJO BLOG} and check out all the beauties this week!!

Mojo Monday

Hello everyone!! Are you ready for another Mojo Monday?? I sure am!!! This was an incredibly L-O-N-G weekend!! My son's "cold" turned into full blown bronchial ick by the end of the weekend and I spent Mother's Day in an urgent care clinic. However, it wasn't only my son who needed to see the doctor. My daughter Mattea had to go in for x-rays because I was sure she had a broken arm. Her and her older sister were swinging like monkeys from my Mom's clothes line and she came down on her wrist. It turned out she only has a really bad sprain. Sunday was definately not the relaxing Mother's Day I was hoping for and today feels like a breath of fresh air. I'm hoping this week runs a bit smoother than the last one :)
Thanks to Julee, we have another amazing sketch to get our creative juices flowing. This sketch worried me a little bit but once the idea hit me it came together pretty quickly.
Head on over to the {Mojo Blog} and check out all the awesome cards the other girls have made!! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all you Mom's out their. I hope you have a wonderful, relaxing day. I'll be at my grandma's for a barbeque!!
I thought I would show you the gift I made for my Mom this year. I usually get here flowers for her garden but since they are moving I had to think of something else. Luckily the Verve Diva's have an amazing Project Parade going right now. It was the perfect push to make a special handmade gift for my mom. This month's theme is It's a Girl Thing. You have until May 14th to link up your project on {THIS} post for a chance to win a Verve gift certificate.
I made this frame for my mom with my current favorite photo of my kids. If it looks familiar it's because I just made {THIS LAYOUT} with it too.
You can click on the photo for a close up of the details!
Here are a few detail shots:

Not As Much As Usual

I'm behind again on all my favorite challenges but not as much as usual. I had a chance this week to get to last weeks Viva La Verve sketch. A new one posted yesterday though so I'll have to try and get to it next week ;) Last month's sketches were all sitting on my desk two days before they were due and I didn't get a single one done.
I used my new Verve set Because of You for this mother's day card for my Grandma. Yes, I'm aware this set has lots of OTHER flowers in it but this is my favorite from this set. I love the little sprigs of leaves. So yummy :) My son helped me stamp this so it didn't end up quiet centered in the corner but I just love when he helps me with my cards! I used my much neglected silver cording (that I've had since xmas). My friend Jenny always makes the cutest cards with it and I've been waiting for the right card to try it too. I'm gonna have to use it more :)
Thanks for stopping by!

You're Invited!

I've been busy! Check these out. That's 36 stars...stamped, cut out, and the edges all distressed. Phew, that took a lot longer than I thought it would. Why do I need so many stars??? For these.
My sister asked me to make birthday party invitation for my nephews 1st birthday party in June. Of course I said yes and of course I picked a layout that was a little involved but I think they turned out super cute. I actually cased myself on this one. You can see my original idea {HERE}.
Anyone have special Mother's Day plans?? I'm going to my parent's house this weekend for Mother's Day. It's not just going to be a relaxing weekend though. My parent's just got a contract on their house and will be moving next month. I'm super excited for them, it will be a great change but it's going to be weird helping them pack our childhood home :(
Anyway, have a great weekend and HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all you mom's :)

More Scrapping

I've been rebitten by the bug...at least for awhile. After my 12 hour crop last Saturday, I can't seem to stop. I'm so far behind on my scrapbooks and the change of pace has been kind of nice. My son's album is about two years behind so I took only his pages to work on over the weekend. I have to say I did much better on the boy pages than I thought I would by I was dying to use some flowers. When I came home I made this page for my daughter using my new Verve stamps!
I actually used the left over papers from {THIS} card. I'm going to try and make a card and a layout with the same materials for awhile and see if I can't get a little more caught up.
I tried to take a close up shot so you could see the details.

Recipe Challenge 47

Butterflies are so in right now. I can't seem to get enough. This weeks Recipe Challenge at Sketches {by tamara} was perfect for my love of butterflies.
*a butterfly (or butterflies)
*glitter No I didn't cheat, I used TONS of butterflies!!! Look at the lace trim, they are little butterflies. Isn't it cute. I got it at Walmart. I used the brads to adhere it to the card and I love the pop of color against all the white. I don't normally use a lot of white but I really love this one.

April Showers...

...bring May flowers of course! This week's Created By Courtney Challenge is all about flowers. Just add a flower to your card or project and link it up on Courtney's blog.
I used my new My Mind's Eye paper pad for this card. Check out that big ole' bloom!! I cut it out of some dp. The sentiment is from Verve's Because of You. I made this for my baby sister for Mother's Day. I hope she likes it :)
Make sure you check out all the other chick's creations.
