Cousins!

I sat down to make cards yesterday and just didn't have it in me. My brain was dead and wasn't feeling very creative, so I decided to switch it up and do a scrapbook layout. I made it for the Hip Hop Challenge on the Unity forum. Since most of the Unity gals are at CHA we had to make a project using those letters.
C= coloring (I colored the ice cream cone base)
H= paper piercing (it's hard to see in the picture above, but you can see it in the cherry close up)
A= amore. I love everyone in the photo :)
Here are some close up shots:
I LOVE the gingham leaves :)
My kids loved the vanilla and strawberry cone :) I'm a chocolate chip girl myself ;)

Raspberry Suite Sketch For You

My card really is suppose to be for the Raspberry Suite Color Challenge but it kind of looks like one of the colors is missing, right?!?! I had intended to use Certainly Celery which looked the most like Moss to me but then I found a scrap of Mellow Moss and decided to use it. It looks like kraft in the picture though and no matter what I did I couldn't get it to look green :(I used Laura's sketch for the layout of this card. It gave me some grief too. I saw this card going in a whole different direction that just wasn't working for me.

Coloring?!?

I guess I should have posted this one yesterday since it was the first challenge on the Unity Forum...lol. I just really loved the apron card that I forgot all about this one. The hot air balloon is another prestamped image from my friend Katie. Good thing she stamped it twice because I totally screwed up the first one. It's been awhile since I've played with my copics (in case you hadn't noticed, I'm addicted to paper piecing :). I think I need to quit ignoring my marker so much though because while I was coloring the first image I bled the colors together...A LOT!!!! This one still didn't turn out quite like I wanted but I was afraid to get to carried away with the ink because I didn't want to mess up both images. After I colored the balloon, I pulled out some old SU pattern packs to match the colors. The layers were easier than I thought they might be and I'm happy with the card, check it out!I think it's all the distressed edges that I love the most :) Well, I'm off to check if another challenge has been posted on SCS. It's been cooler here lately which just gets me itching to bury myself in my playroom. The kids have liked the change of pace too. I think they would play outside all day, everyday but it's nice when we can all slow down a bit, they are truly wiped out.

Apron Inspiration

I don't actually ever wear aprons but if I did it would look like that one----->
Isn't it cute!! I love the colors, the cut but especially those ruffles. This apron is today's inspiration for the {Unity Challenge} of the day on Splitcoast. I was inspired by the fab colors but I couldn't get those ruffles out of my head, so here is my card:

I scalloped a few different prints of paper and stitched along all of them so I could flip them up like the ruffles on the dress (it's kind of hard to see in the photo). This card was super easy to put together since there was no stamping involved...well for me anyway :) My dear friend {Katie Cotton} stamped out a bunch of Unity images for me and shipped me a fabulous package of goodies. Make sure you check out her blog and her stamp company {Paper Makeup Stamps}. She was kind enough to mail me a few and I've made a few cards but you can't see the first one until next week's Mojo Monday :)

Mojo Monday 97

I'm beginning to wonder where the time is going? I mean really, is it almost August? It seems like summer was just starting and here I'm getting ready to get my kiddo's their school supplies.
This week Julee gave us another really fun sketch for Mojo Monday(and an easy one in my opinion). I like this simple layout, there are enough elements that it isn't boring but few enough that you can make one really quickly. This is definately going to be a fall back layout for those mojoless days.
Instead of a circle I used a {hoarded} prima flower and whipped out a fabulous Verve sentiment. Isn't that paper super fun?? I love the bright colors, they just make me happy :D

What A Great Book!!

I have a very good excuse for not posting very much this week. Well a few actually, school...blah blah blah, housework...waa waa waa AND I FINALLY starting ready Twilight. Okay...I'll give you a minute to digest the shock that this statement must have caused all you Edward fans. I wanted to read it when all the mania started but for whatever reason didn't get around to it. Well once I finally picked it up I couldn't put it down. Once I finished it I had to go rent the movie, so Edward and I had our first date last night {swoon}. {WARNING: another shocking statement} I didn't really see what all the fuss was about over this guy, I didn't think he was all the cute. After ready the book I suddenly want to wallpaper my bedroom in his photos. While I really enjoyed the movie for the obvious eye candy reason, the book was SOOOOO much better. But, okay back to the reason you're here, my card, right?!?!
I made this for a Unity Challenge on Splitcoast and barely squeezed it in on time. I almost forgot I wanted to do a Hip Hop Hangover card so this came together very quickly last night. I think I may need to start procrastinating more often, this card was super quick and I didn't second guess myself near as much as I usually do. (Of course I am totally lying about becoming a procrastinator, it just ain't me :)
Make sure you pop on over to the {UNITY BLOG} to check out all the other Hangover posts!!

Mojo Monday 96

Gonna make this short and sweet today. I have a lot of school work to do:)
I finally got a chance to play with some new Melissa Frances goodies that I won as blog candy on the Paper Crafts Magazine blog. I decided to use them for this weeks {Mojo Monday} card. This card came together really quickly since there was no stamping involved. Make sure you head on over to the {MOJO BLOG} to see this weeks sketch and check out the Mojo Makers cards.

Floral Holidays

I've been working on my samples for Making Handmade Cards and just LOVE this Vintage Christmas Kit. Most of you know I can't get enough gingham paper but the paper I like I can pick up at my local Hobby Lobby and believe me I have quite a supply. The paper I have a hard time finding is the perfect polka dot print. I found one that I loved last year from My Minds Eye but had to buy the whole huge stack to get a few pieces and it's all gone now :( Black and red polka dots are the one's I like to use most often and this digi kit happens to have red polka dots!!!!! For this card I used the green polka dots so I could pair it with the red ribbon. My hubby thinks this one is a bit to busy, what do you think?? I have to say I struggled with this one a bit but I think it turned out cute.

Party Animal...

...well not anymore!! My partying days are over and I'm so glad. A hip hop hangover is really the only kind I like :)
My Hip Hop card was for yesterday's Crinkled challenge on the SCS forums. I crinkled up the polka dot paper but it is kind of hard to tell since I added the journaling box over the top of it. It is very crinkled though and it inspired me to distress up all the edges. The owl and the tree branch are both from the June Unity KOM and the sentiment is a rubon from Melissa Frances. I thought it went perfect on this card!
I think this card turned out pretty masculine and am happy it. I just can't help adding a bit of ribbon and a bow. The men in my life are just going to have to learn to love bows :D

I Was Feeling Orange

The color orange seems to be everywhere lately. It's not normally a color I use but I found this super cute ribbon months ago and it was still sitting unopened in my craft room. I decided to try and use it was am really surprised how much I'm digging the color.
I used Laura's Sketch from the 2 Sketches 4 You blog for this card. I had to dig out my Purple Onion Designs for this card since they are this weeks sponsors. The design teams cards completely blew me away this week that I was too inspired not to play. Plus, Purple Onion is offering a really cool prize and a special sale so make sure you check it out!!
I used the Flower Head Set, Stitches and Happy Birthday all from Purple Onion.

Mojo Monday 94

ETA: ughhhhhhhh.....Blogger was suppose to publish this at 6:00 a.m. Sorry for the delay, I just realized it hadn't gone live :(

Anyone else in a Christmasy mood lately?? I know some of you are because I've been seeing some adorable Christmas cards out there in blogland so I made my first one of the season for this weeks {MOJO MONDAY SKETCH}.
As I'm typing this I'm watching my kids play in 90 degree weather on the slip n slide so writing about snowflakes is a bit difficult..lol. I dug out Verve's Snow Wonderful set. As much as I love the snowmen in this set the snowflake background is becoming my fave. I stamped it three times in Bravo Burgandy ink to make my background, such a cute design. The sentiment "Let it Snow", I stamped three times on a tag that just happened to be on my desk and everything else just fell together. Well, except the stinking snowflakes. It was late and I had a terrible time getting them on the card the way I wanted them.
Make sure you head over to the {MOJO BLOG} and see the other girls cards, they are super cute this week (but I think I say that every week ;) I can't help it, I get to work with a very talented bunch!!!

A Playdate With Courtney

You know my friend Libby Hickson, the one who has that adorable challenge were you make a card inspired by an outfit out of her daughter's closet!?! Well I sent her a photo of my daughter Mattea after her 4th birthday in this cute dress so we could have a play date. I really wish I lived close enough to actually have a playdate. I would love to check out her stamp cave ;)
Here is the picture of Mattea, totally hamming it up for the camera. She was LOVING this :) And here is my card based on her dress:Now make sure you head on over to {Libby's Blog} and check out her card and we would love it if you played along too. You can link your card up on her post so we can all check them out.

It's a prize week!!!!! Make sure you head on over to the {MOJO BLOG} to see Julee's sketch this week. I had to tweak mine just a little to use this image.
I tried to take a close-up photo to show you the glitter I added to the flowers. Yes, I said glitter...lol. I know I don't use it very much but this card just sort of called for it.

Happy 4th of July!!!

Happy 4th to all of my friends here in the states!!! Today's card is also a little announcement. I was asked to be a designer for Making Handmade Cards and today's card uses only their papers. They are an eKit company. I hadn't ever tried digi papers but I decided to give it a whirl and it's so much easier than I thought. Before I started I had so many questions. Is my printer good enough? What kind of paper should I use? Is the quality good? All those questions were answered on this really great video {HERE}. It has all the info you need to know about their eKits. I'm still in the learning stages too and I will pass along any info I find out to you. These papers are from the Bella eKit. It is loaded with lots of swirly paper and these red and blue ones instantly made me think of the 4th. The sentiment in computer generated in Word but all the other papers are from this kit.
I'll have plenty more creations for you soon, once I decide which papers to print..lol!!

Bee Mine

Happy friday :) Wow, that really was a quick week but I'm really glad. The 4th of July is my most favorite holiday ever!!! This year will be a little different though since my parents have moved. The town I used to live in, the parade went right by my parents house and we always had tons of family over. Then of course we barbequed. But then in the evening we went to the rodeo and watched the fireworks. This year we won't be doing any of that, but I'm looking forward to starting some new traditions, especially with my own kiddos.
I made this card for the Unity The Sun Is Shining challenge yesterday in the SCS forums. You had to use yellow anywhere on your card so I broke out the So Saffron cardstock and ribbon. I'm not sure what I think of this card?!?
Thanks for stopping by and I hope all of my American friends have a great weekend and a safe 4th!

Let's Hang Out

This month's Unity KOTM guest design challenge is a sketch...I love sketch challenges :) I think I made this one a bit harder than it needed to be though, it took forever but I'm finally happy with the end result. This card is the first time that I've had a chance to get the new June KOTM inky {sad I know}. Between school and moving my parents, I've had no stamping time, I'm lucky to have squeezed this in today. Lucky for me though things will be slowing down soon so I can resume my normal posting schedule. I was even behind on blog surfing and my google reader had over 400 posts. YIKES!! I'll get to them all soon so if I haven't been showing you love lately, I promise I will soon ;) Thanks for stopping by!
